Where Did The Term Daddy Long Legs Come From?

The term: “Daddy Long Legs” refers to a certain variety of spider with a small abdomen and extremely large legs. Whether or not the name makes literal sense (it doesn’t), it sure has pissed off one YouTube user:
Opilionids go by many names: daddy longlegs, harvestmen, shepherd spiders, and harvest spiders. These eight-legged arachnids are commonly misidentified as spiders, but they actually belong to their own, separate group – the order Opiliones.
